The term "Hablo" in Somali translates into English as young women and girls ...

We probably all know by now that acceptance and belonging are essential for living a mentally and emotionally fulfilling life. But for many Somali girls growing up in the UK, life can be a delicate balancing act between two worlds. At home, tradition and historical cultural expectations shape our identity; outside, we face a society that champions freedom, individuality, and self-expression. The clash can be confusing, isolating, and emotionally exhausting.

At Hablo RISE, we understand this struggle, WE HAVE LIVED IT.
It is from this understanding that we came together to create and develop Hablo RISE
Our mission is to create a space where Somali women and girls can feel supported, and empowered — not expected to choose between cultures, rather they are encouraged to define themselves in and on their own terms while at the same time honouring and celebrating the richness of our beautiful East African culture here in the West. Together, we address the difficulties directly, by working together to remove stigma and by providing advocacy and support with issues such as Mental health, homelessness, isolation, ostracization and substance abuse. We believe we can bridge the gap between the services currently available and the number of Somali female service users by supporting our women to engage and by removing fear as a barrier.
We at Hablo RISE are a voice for Somali women in the UK, join us as we navigate and celebrate together.
