Hablo HEALTH
Hablo HEALTH connects Somali women to culturally informed health support, advocacy, and education through every stage of womanhood.
Barriers to available healthcare
Within British Somali communities, understanding of mental health and neurodiversity, such as autism and ADHD, remains low, particularly for women and girls. These conditions can feel culturally unfamiliar or misunderstood, contributing to delayed diagnosis, isolation, stigma, and lack of support.
Lack of culturally informed support, can lead to missed prevention, delayed care, poorer health outcomes, and greater strain on NHS services.
Many women only seek support in crisis, with an estimated 37% of Somali women in London having never attended cervical screening.
