The term “Hablo” in Somali translates to

“young women and girls.”

Hablo RISE is one of the only spaces of its kind, created by women specifically for Somali-origin women here in the UK.

Many of us Somali origin women who were born/raised in the UK have had to grow up navigating two or more different worlds.

From growing up learning to balance British and Somali cultures alongside our timetables to adapting to spaces that weren’t built with us in mind.

Whether it’s in healthcare, education or everyday life these gaps can leave women feeling unsupported or misunderstood.

Hablo RISE exists to change that.

Built on almost a decade of trusted community work through the Raggydolls project, our approach is rooted in lived experience and shaped by the realities of the women we support.

Hablo RISE is delivered through three connected strands, each designed by our team of professional British born/raised Somali women with combined experience across social care, health, education, media and the arts.
